Sorry this is so long. Someone needs it. I know I do.

Well friends, we made it!
It’s Thursday.
Yet again, we made it through another day, because of the finished work of Jesus Christ.
🤍
At this point, we know 3 absolutely true things:
—
// the beautiful Father knows your name, my name, and all 8 billion others—& he can still have a completely intimate relationship with each one of us through Christ.
—
// He goes before us, & has, since the beginning of time—bonus >> we have the Holy Spirit in us that guides us with each and every step.
—
// it is only through Jesus, the towering wave of mercy & billowing storm of love—in which we have S T R E N G T H.
—
—
—
Well, it’s Thursday and we must remind ourselves of something so hard to remember, and even hard to grasp sometimes.
>
Romans 8:18 says, “For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.”
—
A few months ago I read C.S. Lewis’ book Mere Christianity, and I wrote a paper on a few topics he sought to understand, and one of those was hope.

One of the things Lewis said (through much better words and quite a bit more depth) is that all of our hearts seek a great many things that this world is unable to satisfy—& no early object will fulfill the desires of our hearts like the things (or T H E thing) of Heaven will.
There is something greater we must strive for, for it // WILL // be revealed to us on the other side.
The challenging thing about this, is that whenever we’re in a tough spot, it’s almost like the enemy fogs up EVERY truth in our mind with a lie, and that’s all we can think about.
In the moment, you honestly feel immobilized.
You feel captivated.
Well, that’s actually exactly what we are. In that moment, the enemy has taken over our minds and forced us to think only on that one thing that has no significance.
—
In fact, that exactly what this verse is saying.
Our current sufferings PALE in comparison to the future glory we will experience.
Romans 8 says it isn’t even WORTH comparing. Like don’t even try to compare it—you aren’t gonna get anywhere even close to the glory that will be revealed to us.
—
And to C.S. Lewis’ point, COME ON why aren’t we just constantly hopeful of the glory that will be revealed to us?!
Yes, there is a time to be concerned & wise, but there’s never a time to wallow in our sufferings.
—
Take a second here.
Think of Jesus, with thick nails in the palms of his hands and the soles of his feet.
A crown of thorns on his head, for every imperfection you and I posses each day.
There he is, up on a cross with scars on his back. Pushing, beneath the weight of it all, he can barely breathe.
💔
And his words?
“Father, forgive them.”
🤯
If you remember, merely hours beforehand the only thing he could pray was Father, remove this from me. Take this away.
.
.
.
And now, here he is—and all he’s saying is “Father forgive them.”
—
Can you believe that?
Can you believe, someone so absolutely perfect—hung there, & asked his father to // f o r g i v e // you, & me.
So friends, remember—even in your present sufferings, it is not worth comparing to the unmeasurable glory that we will experience one day.
And one day very soon.
It’s coming.
